More Mexillant

Only four hours earlier you boarded a plane in Febrero in a grey and freezing Boston. Your luggage is brought from the harbor by bicycle probably by Fidel who also sells the island newspaper, Por Esto.
(These bicicletas are used as taxis in rural Mexico.)

This is the first thing you see walking onto the property.

The second thing you see is Clara and Margarita bringing me my welcoming salted margarita. HEY! It is my story and my dream, and nothing is perfect except my marriage.

Roberto Francisco Tocino
but you may call me Patron or El Presidente. I am partial to both.

Allons danser* (Let’s Dance)

-->
In 1987 Sandy decided, while drinking tequila with the Cerris in our jacuzzi tub one evening, that because Barbara Cerri had never been to her prom that we would have a "grown up" prom. It was called "AS TIME GOES BY." Check out the photos and you will believe it. Time certainly has gone by.

We rented a dance hall with a polished wooden floor in Hanover, Massachusetts on Route 53 and sent out the invitations. Seventy-five couples also thought that it was a pretty good idea. Many came in limos. All dressed in gowns and tuxedos . . . of course. YES!

We had a live rock and roll band! Photos were taken by a professional, Allan Sylvester's sister, who was wearing her dyed-black wedding dress, signifying possibly that the wedding did not work out. The prom album is awesome.

One by one we pulled names out of a hat for the King and Queen's Court. Toward the end of the night the female songstress finally put her hand into my Tombstone Arizona cowboy hat and pulled out the name of the couple who would be king and queen for the night. It was John and Barbara Cerri.

I rate this as one of our very best parties ever. Any comments? Especially if you were there. Do you still look the same as you did back then? Yup, me too.

What was your favorite Club Bacon activity? The canoe trips, the family baseball games, the Mexican pool parties, the Polish Picnic, the dance fiestas, vacation time together on la Isla Mujeres?

Tequila shots anyone?

* from Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys CD “Friday at Last” (#13)

Only two of the five original members remain from 1997 -- Steve and Kevin Dugas, the drummer (Doo gahh).

Do You Know Richard Farnsworth?

He started out as a stunt man in the movies. He was in 42 overall. Some of the movies were very classic westerns. Monte Walsh with Lee Marvin; Red River with John Wayne, Walter Brennan and Montgomery Clift; Blazing Saddles; The Cowboys with John Wayne and Bruce Dern; Ulzana's Raid with Burt Lancaster; Outlaw Josie Wales with Clint Eastwood; and even Tom Horn with Steve McQueen.

He never stood out to me until the movie The Grey Fox. Other movies of his that you may have heard of were: The Two Jakes, the Marx Brothers’ A Day at the Races, and Gone With The Wind.

If I were to rent two of his movies, they would be The Grey Fox (1982) and The Straight Story (1999).

In the Grey Fox he plays a former convict near the end of the Wild West era. He is the handsome elderly hero. I dare you to rent it.

In The Straight Story he plays Alvin Straight, who drives a sit-down lawn mower from Laurens, Iowa to Mt. Zion, Wisconsin to visit his estranged brother. It is a true story. He was even nominated for Best Actor for it. Sissy Spacek plays his daughter and Harry Dean Stanton plays his brother.

He lived and died on his ranch in Lincoln New Mexico.
September 1, 1920 - October 6 , 2000

Call me after you watch his movies and we will talk.
I own them both and I could lend them to you for a very small fee.
Oh! He was also in The Natural with Robert Redford.
