Do You Know Richard Farnsworth?

He started out as a stunt man in the movies. He was in 42 overall. Some of the movies were very classic westerns. Monte Walsh with Lee Marvin; Red River with John Wayne, Walter Brennan and Montgomery Clift; Blazing Saddles; The Cowboys with John Wayne and Bruce Dern; Ulzana's Raid with Burt Lancaster; Outlaw Josie Wales with Clint Eastwood; and even Tom Horn with Steve McQueen.

He never stood out to me until the movie The Grey Fox. Other movies of his that you may have heard of were: The Two Jakes, the Marx Brothers’ A Day at the Races, and Gone With The Wind.

If I were to rent two of his movies, they would be The Grey Fox (1982) and The Straight Story (1999).

In the Grey Fox he plays a former convict near the end of the Wild West era. He is the handsome elderly hero. I dare you to rent it.

In The Straight Story he plays Alvin Straight, who drives a sit-down lawn mower from Laurens, Iowa to Mt. Zion, Wisconsin to visit his estranged brother. It is a true story. He was even nominated for Best Actor for it. Sissy Spacek plays his daughter and Harry Dean Stanton plays his brother.

He lived and died on his ranch in Lincoln New Mexico.
September 1, 1920 - October 6 , 2000

Call me after you watch his movies and we will talk.
I own them both and I could lend them to you for a very small fee.
Oh! He was also in The Natural with Robert Redford.

Love Richard Farnsworth. His sons were also stuntmen.

I remember The Straight Story, and I remember Richard Farnsworth playing the role of Alvin. No city-born-and-bred American would say he did not look like a Real Cowboy. Few of us at this age wouldn't mind swapping looks with him, either.

I did not know he lived in New Mexico. But Lincoln -- the heart of Billy The Kid country -- is about perfect. We've been to Lincoln a few times, but we didn't see him any of those times.

Nice note, seƱor.
